The Brooklyn Nets may be breaking up their much hyped Big Three – Brook Lopez, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson.

Lopez, the subject of trade rumors prior to the February trade deadline has apparently proven his worth and will thus be kept by the Nets. Unfortunately, such doesn't seem to be the case for two-thirds of the big three.

Deron Williams, who will be owed $43.37 million up to 2017, will likely be shipped and conform to rumors that he is on his way out.

Williams' performance has so far dipped dramatically, leaving many to think that his contract may have been overly exaggerated when he came to Brooklyn.

Joe Johnson has been in and out of the game and is another high salaried player which could be heading towards the exit soon. Johnson is set to make $24.89 million next season and the Nets seem to be clearing cap space with the exclusion of Johnson and Williams.

According to a report New York Post, the emphasis of the Nets will apparently be on Brook Lopez and Thaddeus Young.

Other than the two, other youngsters that the Nets intend to keep include Markel Brown, Sergey Karasev, Bojan Bogdanovic and Mason Plumlee.

Other than that, the rest of the planned players to comprise the team next season could very well depend on who the Nets pick up in the coming NBA Draft and Free Agency in June and July respectively.

Seeing that their initial direction of investing on high-profile and high salaried players have proven futile, the Nets are leaning more on a rebuilding phase which would involve younger players which is the natural direction.

The dramatic turnaround seems to be commencing this coming season where the Nets may struggle. But with the right talent moving forward, the Nets could be a force to reckon with in a year or two.
