Jim O'Heir will share his comedic chops in the second episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4.

The "Parks and Recreation" alum, known for portraying the role of ill-fated but lovable mischief-maker Jerry Gergich, has been tapped to portray the role of a cop who will encounter Jake (Andy Samberg) and Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) while the detectives remain in Florida under the witness protection program. The character will appear in episode 2.

O'Heir is not the first "Parks and Recreation" star who has joined the critically acclaimed comedy police procedural sitcom. In season 3, Nick Offerman appeared as Captain Holt's ex-boyfriend named Frederick.

The appearance of "Parks and Recreation" cast members came as no surprise since the defunct show's creator Michael Schur also created "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

Aside from O'Heir, other celebrities are expected to appear in season 4, including Maya Rudolph, Jorma Taccone, Rhea Perlman, as well as Ken Marino who will portray the role of Holt's replacement as the captain of NYPD's 99th Precinct.

Meanwhile, Digital Spy revealed in early August that "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" will have a crossover episode with another popular FOX comedy "New Girl."

In the Television Critics Association press tour, FOX chairman and CEO Dana Walden announced the network's plan of coming up with "The Comedy Crossover Event of the Year."

"The shows definitely feel compatible, and they came up with a really fun story for the crossover," Walden stated. "If it feels organic and like something that can exist between the two shows, I find most creators are open to anything that will "event-ize" their shows. It was a fresh and fun idea for them."

The plot for the crossover episode has yet to be revealed, but the one-hour event is slated to air on Oct. 11.

The premiere episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4 is slated to air on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
