Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Det. Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) try to impress their idol in the upcoming episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" season 4.
Titled "Your Honor/The Slaughterhouse," this week's one-hour special episode will introduce a member of Capt. Ray Holt's (Andre Braugher) family. The captain's beloved mom (guest star L. Scott Caldwell) heads to the precinct to seek support after her house was robbed. Det. Charles Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio), Sgt. Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews), and Rosa team up to remodel the breakroom, while Det. Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) teaches Gina Linetti (Chelsea Peretti) learn how to change a car tire.
Elsewhere, Rosa and Jake go out of their way to impress their idol Lt. Melanie Hawkins (guest star Gina Gershon). A conflict between Det. Scully (Joel McKinnon Miller) and Det. Hitchcock (Dirk Blocker) arises, so Charles, Terry, and Gina try out various parenting methods to resolve the issue.
The sneak peek shows Melanie's arrival and her first time in precinct 99. Jake is all smiles when he tries to have a conversation with her. The next scene shows Charles, Jake, and Amy's surprised reactions after seeing Ray's mother. Jake jokes around and calls Ray's mom "The creator," but she does not look happy at all.
In other news, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" was recently renewed for a fifth season by Fox. Although the numbers have dipped in the current season — with its most recent episode hitting a season low of just over 1.7 million viewers — the show remains as one of Fox's longest-running comedies. It will also have its milestone 100th episode next season, which gives the network more reason to greenlight a renewal.
Throughout its run, the cop comedy has won two Creative Arts Emmys and two Golden Globes. Braugher has also been nominated for three Primetime Emmys for portraying the stern precinct 99 captain.
The fourth season of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" airs every Tuesday at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.
