Twenty years after Bubsy 3D, the bobcat is returning to PC and PlayStation 4 (PS4) with its fifth installment "Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back." Set to launch on Oct. 31, the game will feature new bosses and 100 new one-liners for Bubsy. The latest addition to the Bubsy franchise will be the first original game since 1996.

A Purrfect Edition of the game will also be available for purchase. The Purrfect Edition will be a PS4 exclusive and will come with the game's soundtrack, a mystery post-card, and a Bubsy business card.

Bubsy first premiered in 1993 in "Bubsy in Claws Encounters of the Furred Kind" where the titular bobcat had to face off against yarn-stealing aliens called Woolies. The following games featured Bubsy fighting queens and traveling from one fairy tale to another, but this latest title will be a throwback of sorts to the very first game.

In "Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back," Bubsy Bobcat will once again have to face off against the Woolies to stop them from stealing all the earth's yarn. It's a straightforward platforming game with lots of jumping and stomping on enemies, but this time, Bubsy will be handled by German game developers Black Forest, the creators of "Giana Sisters" and "Rogue Stormers." These developers will be utilizing the Havok game engine they created for this latest Bubsy game.

The game was first announced earlier this year in June 8, while the Purrfect Edition was announced later in August. "Bubsy: The Woolies Strike Back" received a handful criticism from journalists and gaming sites shortly after it was revealed, with many questioning why it was coming back with another game or whether or not the game would be any good. And after a 21-year hiatus, it doesn't help that Bubsy is coming out shortly after "Super Mario Odyssey" and "Knack 2."
