While some players were simply content with getting a copy of the recently released remastered version of Activision's hit 2007 first person shooter video game, "Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare," some PC gamers were apparently more interested in dissecting the game for what it really is. Several data miners, who dug deep into the source code of the game's PC version, apparently uncovered some very interesting codes within the game which suggest that Activision may be planning to add microtransactions somewhere down the road.

Data miners posted on Reddit their discoveries which included tons of code that pointed to several unused content left within the game by its developers. Majority of the unutilized weapons that were found were mostly from other titles in the "Call of Duty" franchise, except for the Kamchatka Auto Shotgun. The brand new weapon itself looks to be very powerful and can easily take out clumped up opponents.

The previously mentioned weapons from other "Call of Duty" games include a Shovel melee weapon that is quite common on "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3." It is not yet clear why the melee weapon hasn't made it onto the game. However, one clue that points to the possible reason was the strings of code that referred to an unimplemented weapon's dealer option that is also similar to the one found in "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3."

Based on the findings, some users have speculated that Activision may have, at one point, planned to add microtransactions to the game, but then scrap it, or perhaps planned to add that option at a later date. The company has yet to reveal any details about its plans for the remastered game, so fans would just have to wait and see if they will be getting access to the new weapons anytime soon.

"Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare - Remastered" was released earlier in the month alongside the special edition packages of "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare."
