'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' 2nd DLC launches on April 19 for PS4

Call of Duty Black Ops III - EclipseActivision

The second DLC for "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" has been announced, officially titled "Eclipse," and is scheduled to be released for the PS4 this coming April 19. The DLC gives four new multiplayer maps as well as an entirely new Zombie Mode storyline.

According to the official blog of Activision, the Zombie storyline will be titled "Zetsubou no Shima" and lets players take control of the Origins characters as they traverse a facility on a World War II-era island. This campaign will introduce new transports, traps, side quests and different kinds of beasts altered by experiments and the zombie virus.

The Spire is the first of the four new maps and is set in a futuristic airport placed high in the clouds, giving it a clean and open-range design. The Rift is set in a complex military facility built on top of an active caldera while the Knockout map is set in a traditional Shaolin Temple that has been given the 1970s aesthetic flair.

The fourth map, The Verge, is a throwback to the classic Banzai map used in "Call of Duty: World at War." The map is set in a post-apocalyptic future where two opposing forces are locked in constant battle. The map utilizes a bridge, several key buildings, tunnels and a waterfall to help players of both teams gain advantage over the other.

Players who purchased the $50 season pass will be able to immediately download the DLC for free when it launches. Those who have not can purchase the DLC individually for $15.

"Eclipse" is currently only confirmed to release on April 19 for the PS4, with no definitive date yet announced for the Xbox One and PC versions although a report from PlayStation Lifestyle points out that these versions may be released after 30 days following the PS4 release. It is also pointed out that the DLC will not be released for the Xbox 360 or PS3 given the limitations of their hardware.
