'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' beta release date set for August?

Call of Duty's official website

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" is the second shooter from the decade-old franchise to have a public beta. Players who pre-order the latest explosion-filled, super-charged iteration of the popular title, may it be a physical or a digital copy, for the PC, Xbox One or PS4, are given the honor of test-driving the game prior to its release later this year.

Unfortunately, that is the only information game companies Treyarch and Activision dished out about the beta, although they previously teased that the event will happen prior to the game's release, which is, admittedly, not very helpful. But new details about the beta have emerged and they shed light to the question of when the beta is actually happening.

The leak comes from a Twitter user named Satynade, who shared a screenshot of an alleged email regarding the beta sent to him by a retailer in Norway called the CDON.

Translated, the email says: "The code will be sent to your mail in August, when the Beta releases."

Although the month in question is likely when Treyarch and Activision will choose to hold a beta for the game, there is no way of knowing whether the supposed email is genuine or fake.

But if there is one thing gamers and media outlets learn about game leaks, it's that the ones from retailers almost always eventually prove to be the real deal. Gamerant juggles the memory of gaming fans about the accurate leaks that confirmed the release date of "Gran Turismo 6" and the existence of "Dead Space 3."

For now, Treyarch and Activision are both mum about the leak. However, it won't be long before the collaborators brief buyers of the shooter of the upcoming beta.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will be out on Nov. 6 for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. There are rumors that the title will be made available for the Nintendo Wii U as well.
