Just a few days ago, fans were deciding whether basketball superstar James Harden had apparently leaked a new "Call of Duty" game. Many thought it may have been just a weird "Black Ops 3" with an extra "I" design on his cap. Although that seemed unlikely at first, Activision later confirmed that indeed it was a new game, "Black Ops IIII" ("Black Ops 4").

Unfortunately, aside from Activision teasing fans of its new game, they have not mentioned anything specific regarding gameplay details and such. However, they did assure the fans that they will be revealing more of it, not within the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) as many thought, but in its own event.

Activision mentioned that the event will be on May 17, 2018, which is actually just a week from now. Aside from all the mentioned, fans have their own theories for what the game will have. One of the most common ones being that the game, at least its PC version, will be using Blizzard's Battle.net instead of Steam.

Prior to the announcement, as mentioned, Harden was seen wearing a cap with the logo of the "Black Ops 3." However, taking a closer look revealed that it was slightly different but it made all the difference. It turns out Activision is not following the usual Roman numerals.

It also made sense that the next game would be a new game to the "Black Ops" series since Activision would usually switch studios and thus franchises every three years. "Black Ops 3" was back in Nov. 2015, which was three years ago.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops 4" will be released on Oct. 4, 2018. It will be playable on the PS4, Xbox One and PC while the Switch version has yet to be announced.
