The latest and recently released installment in the "Black Ops" series in the first-person shooter "Call of Duty" franchise is "Black Ops 3." However, it seems that publisher Activision still has some surprises left for previous installments. Recent speculations suggest that the original "Call of Duty: Black Ops" title may get refreshed soon.

According to CharlieIntel, a recent DLC addition for the Spain Xbox One Store went live. The store listed the third DLC pack for "Call of Duty: Black Ops" as available to purchase or download. The expansion, "Black Ops: Annihilation," was released on June 28, 2011 for the Xbox 360.

While it is yet to be confirmed, the industry follower noted that the expansion being listed as an Xbox One download might indicate that "Call of Duty: Black Ops" will be added to the backwards compatibility feature soon. This means that should it go live, players will be able to access the original "Black Ops" title on the current-gen Xbox One console as part of the recently launched backwards compatibility program of Microsoft.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops" is one of the most awaited titles by fans to make it to the backwards compatibility games list. While Microsoft has yet to confirm if the title will indeed be added to the list, recent additions might give a clue for players. Recent additions for the games list include "The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings," which is another triple-A release for the Xbox 360.

It is being speculated that "Call of Duty: Black Ops," together with other titles such as the "BioShock" series and "Tekken Tag Tournament 2" will also have backwards compatibility.

As for when the additional titles will be added, Microsoft has not said anything yet. However, the company recently changed its release schedules for games in the backwards compatibility list. Instead of monthly releases, Microsoft will now add titles to the list as soon as they become available.
