Canada started their campaign with a goalless draw against El Salvador but lost their next match in a 1-0 loss against group-leaders, Jamaica.

In that match, the Voyageurs had more shots on the goal against Jamaica but were unable to capitalize on any of their attempts.

Canada ended up playing defense trying to stop the Reggae Boyz's attacks although they had decent opportunities in front of goal.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica almost captured their first win of the tournament against El Salvador only for their defense to give up during stoppage time.

Costa Rica captain Brandon Ruiz scored a goal in that match during the 61st minute to put his squad up 1-0.

Unfortunately, their defense softened in stoppage time allowing a goal to El Salvador's Dustin Corea which ended the match in a draw.

In their first match in the tournament, Costa Rica pushed Jamaica to a 2-2 draw.

Canada needs to score in their match against Costa Rica to at least have a chance to keep their tournament alive.

The match will be at BMO Field. The last time both squads faced one another in this stadium the match ended in a 1-1 draw back in 2007.

Canada and Costa Rica's last Gold Cup meeting was in 2009 with the match ending in a 2-2 draw.

As the home crowd will be cheering them on, the Voyageurs are hoping for a win against Costa Rica, who are having their own issues with their inconsistency.

The match will be on July 14 at 8:30 p.m. EST and will be shown live on Fox Sports 1. The game can be watched online through live stream by clicking here.
