But they shook that result off and claimed a 4-1 win in the second leg once back home in El Salvador. Tonight they will expect a significant contingent of supporters in Carson and that could help turn things their way.

Recently Canada have seemed a more tactically astute team that has been more able to contain other teams and do what they need to do to get the result. Previously they had been a team looking to play free-flowing football and in an effort to get forward and take the game to other teams often allowed themselves to leave gaps at the back.

This match will be a good test for Canada to see just how far they have come. They will believe they can and should win this one, but at the same time will know that El Salvador will be no pushovers.
