Canon has now officially unveiled the Canon 5D Mark IV, as per a report from The Verge. As its name suggests, it is the fourth iteration of the 5D DSLR camera series that originally began in 2005. More importantely, it comes with several high-end features and will launch in the following month of September.

It is going to be the first 5D camera to have fully functional Wi-Fi connectivity and a touchscreen panel. Other DSLR cameras have integrated this before but Canon has not updated their cameras as quickly as other brands due to the high level of quality that goes into the production of their products.

The camera is also going to be the first in the Canon 5D lineup to shoot 4K videos. It is capable of reaching such high quality photos and videos thanks to its new 30.4-megapixel sensor, integration of the Digic 6+ image processor and an ISO range that goes from 100 to 32,000 which can also be upgraded to a range of 50 to 102,400.

Shooting speed has also been upgraded a little bit, now capable of shooting 7 frames per second compared to the 6 frames per second of the 5D Mark III. The camera also comes with built-in GPS, NFC technology and the aforementioned Wi-FI for easier connection.

Overall this makes the 5D Mark IV a significant upgrade considering that the Mark III was launched as far back as 2012. It includes improvements to all of the features that the original Canon 5D came with in 2005, particularly the ability to shoot video that was first introduced in the 5D Mark II, and heavily improves upon them.

All of these upgrades will come at a cost. The camera is reported to cost $3,499 and the optional lenses will cost $1,099 and $2,199. The two lenses will not launch simultaneously with the camera in September but instead will release sometime in October. No specific release date has yet been announced.

A video presentation has also been released, showcasing all of the aforementioned features of the camera.
