When fans think of zombie games, it won't take them long before they start talking about the "Resident Evil" titles from game publisher and developer Capcom, but the company is attempting to at least tweak that a little with their newest offering known as "Umbrella Corps."

Unlike "Resident Evil" games that prioritized their single player campaigns, it appears that "Umbrella Corps" will be focused more on team-based play.

The team-based dynamic sprouts from the game's story that teams of special forces mercenaries are taking up arms against one another to do the bidding of their corporate backers, according to PC Gamer.

As a result, what the game boils down to is a team-oriented shooter where players will fight to see which side is left standing after the hail of bullets have ended.

Still, though "Umbrella Corps" may be shifting from the traditional mold of "Resident Evil" titles, that doesn't mean that Capcom has eschewed the characteristics of one of their most popular franchises altogether.

"Umbrella Corps," as the name may hint at, is actually set inside the same in-game universe as the "Resident Evil" titles. This means that aside from having to deal with the enemies on the other team, players will also have to evade the mindless and violent advances of the zombies found inside the game, according to Polygon.

A preview of the game was shown earlier this week at Tokyo Game Show, and one of its modes, named One Life Match, was showcased. In this particular mode, players were grouped into teams of three and then allowed to roam a small map as they had the lone objective of wiping out the other side. The wrinkle is that players only had one life for each round in this game mode.

A lot is still unknown about "Umbrella Corps," although Capcom figures to offer more details about the game in the near future.
