'Captain America 3' news: Filming starts in Apri, Black Panther to play pivotal role

If there's a movie in Marvel's Phase Three slate that can be considered as very intriguing, then there is no doubt that it's "Captain America: Civil War." Not only is the "Captain America" franchise one of the top earners in the superhero movie genre, this story is also a very important one in the comics.

While there's been no confirmation if Marvel Studios will follow the comic story completely, one sure thing right now is that Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) will be going head-to-head on this one.

There has not been a lackluster of plot news regarding the battle between the Pro-Registration Act advocates and Anti-Registration Act supporters. However, there is one critical thing missing here — Spider-Man. In the comics, Spider-Man plays a pivotal role in the battle between the government and the opposition. At first, he sides with Iron Man, who is for the new law, but later, he ends up fighting alongside Captain America, who's against the legislation.

If Spider-Man is under Marvel/ Disney, there wouldn't be any issue here. They would surely put Spider-Man in "Civil War." However, Sony owns the rights to the web-slinging superhero, hence, Marvel had to find a way around this.

Matt Creamer of Creamers Cinema Craze pointed out that Marvel has actually picked Black Panther to play Spider-Man's pivotal role in the movie. Black Panther is known to be a neutral character, so it makes sense for him to be included in "Civil War."

But by far, the strongest evidence to this theory is when actor Chadwick Boseman, set to play Black Panther, appeared in the Marvel Phase Three announcement.  While Evans and Downey were promoting the third "Captain America" film, Boseman came out and announced the solo "Black Panther" flick. If that wasn't a dead giveaway, it is still believed that Black Panther will play a huge role in "Civil War."

Elsewhere, Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson/ Falcon) had an interview with Kevin Coster of B96 Chicago. When asked about the movie, Mackie revealed the filming date and shooting location.

"We start shooting in April so it's going to be a lot of flying and fighting for about five months," Mackie said. He also added that they will be filming in "Puerto Rico, Berlin and Atlanta."
