'Captain America: Civil War' plot: Ant-Man's inclusion is just the beginning

Paul Rudd, more commonly known to Marvel Cinematic Universe fanatics as Ant-Man, is having a good time bringing the pocket-sized superhero to the big screen. Fans will also see the actor shrink and power up in "Captain America: Civil War," completing the expected blockbuster's cosmic ensemble.

Rudd has been busy filming the highly-anticipated flick, which will mark his character's first appearance on the silver screen alongside some of the Avengers. Before that, though, his titular movie, which is set to come out on July 17, will formally embed the microscopic superhero in the MCU.

"It's been an interesting thing [playing Ant-Man] because I also just went and worked a little bit on Captain America 3," the actor told The Best Show, adding that it's "pretty crazy" seeing commercials for his upcoming solo Marvel debut movie.

"To be in that Marvel world, but kind of be somewhat in a bubble [on the solo movie] and now to kind of have these experiences where I'm standing opposite Captain America, it's been a surreal ride so far. It's really only just starting," he went on to say.

"Captain America: Civil War" includes a massive pack of characters and even introducing new ones. Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman) will debut in the film, as well as Spider-Man who plays an important part in the Civil War arc by mediating between the Cap and Iron Man.

Among the Avengers, The Hulk and Thor are the only ones that won't show up although there are rumors the former might be in the film. Nick Fury won't be there either, but his absence is compensated by Crossbones (Frank Grillo) and a mysterious character to be played by "The Hobbit" actor Martin Freeman. Other characters include War Machine (Don Cheadle), General Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (William Hurt), Baron Zemo (Daniel Brühl), and Agent 13 (Emily VanCamp).

The movie is set to hit theaters on May 6, 2016.
