News about the stars gracing and returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been especially unbridled this week. For one, Martin Freeman, who fans know as Sherlock's friend Dr. John Watson and as Bilbo Baggins in "The Hobbit," has found his way into the world of superheroes.

The 43-year-old English actor will be joining the ensemble in "Captain America: Civil War" which recently started production. Cap movie producer Kevin Feige revealed to Marvel.com that "Martin's range from the dramatic to the comedic has consistently impressed us." 

"We couldn't be more honored or excited to have such a talented actor join the Marvel Cinematic Universe," Feige said of the award-winning actor, who scored several recognitions from the Emmy and the BAFTA for his excellent acting chops. 

It is still unknown what role Freeman will be playing in "Captain America: Civil War" but speculations point to a character named Everett K. Ross, a U.S. State Department officer that knows so much about Wakanda. 

This character, according to rumors, may also be Marvel's introduction to Black Panther. Since the announcement of Freeman's inclusion, media outlets started to infer that the actor's stint will extend to other Marvel movies. 

On the other hand, Emily VanCamp is set to reprise her role as Agent 13 in "Captain America: Civil War." Fans first saw the "Revenge" star in action in "Captain America: Winter Soldier," where she played as Cap's neighbor Kate who turns out to be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent tasked to protect Steve Rogers. 

"Captain America: Civil War" hits theaters on May 6, 2016 and it is also poised to bring Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The highly-anticipated film that stars Chris Evans as the mighty soldier is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, brothers and helmers of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."
