'Castle' season 8 spoilers: Castle and Beckett calling it quits? Love triangle

Will Beckett (Stana Katic) and Castle (Nathan Fillion) face more trials in Castle season 8? ABC

According to reports, Castle and Beckett are going solo in "Castle" season 8. The two will be busy with their own businesses — the latter, with the long speculated political venture she's been chewing over; and the former, with getting to know the newcomer in the precinct.

Word on the street is that the couple will part ways in the upcoming season. The idea sprung after a former LAPD cop named Hayley Vargas was reported to be joining the team. To be played by "The Neighbors" actress Toks Olagundoye, the character will make a splash as a "quick-witted, free-spirited" security analyst and may even catch the eye of the cult-favorite detective.

There is no solid available information to back that up and while Castle actor Nathan Fillon talked about it with TV Line, nothing was made clear. Fillon neither confirmed nor debunked the breakup, but it looks like season 8 is welcoming a big change in the show.

"Don't be worried," the actor said during the interview, consoling fans of the predicted fallout between the couple. "In order for a show to continue and to move forward, things have to change. And things have changed, every year, for these two. It's simply another change, and it's going to be great."

Meanwhile, Stana Katic, who plays Castle's wife and fellow detective Kate Beckett, recently revealed in a Twitter Q&A that the new season will be a "nail-biter." She did not say anything about her character's rumored career change but she did say that she puts her trust on showrunners Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter in laying out where Kate is headed in "Castle" season 8.

It is being said that Kate will run for office, something that calls for the services of the security analyst. According to reports, Hayley will be working with Kate during her campaign. Fans can only imagine the trouble having Castle in close proximity with the two.

"Castle" season 8 will premiere on Sept. 21.
