Castle (Nathan Fillon) wakes up to a warren of death in "Castle" season 8 episode 12 titled "The Blame Game." The police consultant is compelled to participate in a deadly game, which can either save his life or tragically end it.

After being drugged, Castle and three other guys were kidnapped by a big shot whose idea of pastime comes in the form of "deranged" riddles and mind games that put people's lives on the line. By the end of the killer playtime, only one person will live to tell the tale.

This criminal wants them to "play or die," ironically leaving them no choice. The promo for the "Castle" season 8 episode teases that the police consultant finds himself in a location fitting for the location– a kindergarten, which he seems to have recognized.

Whether or not this knowledge will help him go out unscathed, is for the "Castle" season 8 installment to answer. The first shot was fired by the end of the intense promo and there's no telling who among the guys was at the receiving end.

The "Castle" season 8 episode sneak peek also teases that the killer only has three bullets, which meant one of the guys trapped in the game could be spared. Castle could be one of the unlucky ones to go, which is why Beckett (Stana Katic) springs into action to rescue her man.

It looks like Beckett and her team managed to get to the same playschool that Castle was trapped in. "We can't trust anything in this place," she warns one member of her squad. With her in the kindergarten, that begs the question of where Castle and the other guys' now are.

For a quick recap, "Castle" season 8 episode 11 helped Castle and Beckett learn the tricks of the trade when it comes to international crime and foreign politics. This week, however, puts them in a whole new ball game.

"Castle" season 8 episode 12 "The Blame Game" airs Monday, Feb. 22 at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
