The eighth season of ABC's "Castle" will be ushered in next week by a two-part season premiere, which means that the changes in the lives of Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) will finally be unveiled. 

Based on earlier spoilers, Beckett will no longer be a detective at the NYPD. But that does not mean that the couple's lives will no longer be in danger in the upcoming season. The premiere will reportedly feature a lot of action-packed fight sequences from the start. Beckett will be asked to run for a Senate position, which will require her and Castle to make a lot of adjustments in their lives. 

However, the episode, titled "XY," will also show how a series of unfortunate events will begin after Castle's wife receives a call from a mysterious stranger. The second-part of the premiere, aptly titled "XX," will feature Castle's quest to find out why his wife had to leave after receiving the mysterious call. 

Because of Beckett's tricky predicament which forces her to leave Castle most of the time, fans are worried that new character Hayley Shipton (Toks Olagundoye) might pose a threat to the couple's happy relationship. But according executive producers Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter in an interview posted on TV Guide, a Castle-Shipton affair will never happen.

However, the executive producers also told TV Line that Olagundoye's character will add a little spice to the story. 

"I'm not going to say she's a 'game changer,' because that's a cheesy thing to say, but she brings such a fantastic adrenaline shot to the show," Winter shared. 

Meanwhile, the show executives also admitted that the recent conflict in the filming schedule involving Katic became a blessing in disguise since they managed to work on developing a "dual perspective" story for the season 8 premiere.

The two-part premiere of "Castle" season 8 will air on ABC on Sept. 21 and 28.
