Rick (Nathan Fillion) and Kate (Stana Katic) will team up to solve the murder of an a capella group member in the upcoming episode of the hit ABC series "Castle."
According to EW Spoiler Room, episode 9 titled "Tone Death" will feature "High School Musical" alum Corbin Bleu. In the installment, he will play the role of Hunter Washington, the leader of a rival a capella group that is being suspected of involvement in the murder of another student. Rick and Kate will be immersed in the world of teen jealousy and group wars before they can unlock what truly transpired that led to the death of a talented individual.
Meanwhile, husband and wife will reportedly attempt to hide their renewed romance from their colleagues at the precinct. In an interview with TV Line, co-showrunners Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley said that Rick and Kate would remain estranged in public. Hawley also added that this would give them a chance to separate their professional and private lives. By doing so, they could argue and fight while working and keep the sensitive matters to themselves.
"In fact, in the first episode back, which is called 'Tone Death,' there are a couple of great sequences that we have never been able to do on the show, because Castle and Beckett are hiding the fact that they're together again," Winter said.
During the fall finale episode, Rick confronted Kate about LokSat, and the latter apologized for excluding him from her investigation. She ended up promising that they would now work on the case together. Kate also told her husband that she wanted to fix their marriage and get back together.
At first, Rick was undecided whether to accept Kate's apology. He even said that going back to how things were would be quite difficult for them. However, with a little bit of convincing, he forgave her for pushing him away and accepted her suggestion that they work extra hard for their marriage to work.
"Castle" season 8 will return Feb. 1 at 10 p.m. EST on ABC.
