Casualties after bus overturns in Poole

Several passengers were injured, some possibly seriously, when an open-topped double-decker bus overturned near Poole harbour on Thursday, police said.

At least one other vehicle was involved in the accident which happened near the Studland chain-link ferry at about 10:15 a.m.

Passengers on the upper deck were thrown to the ground while those on the lower deck were trapped as the bus crashed onto its side.

"There were possible serious injuries," a police spokesman said. "There are several casualties, the numbers as yet are unclear."

The ferry was closed to the public and used to transport casualties while roads in the area were closed.
