During the Nintendo Direct Mini, hardcore tower climbing game "Celeste" announced its release date. According to the developers Matt Makes Games Incorporated, their game will finally be seeing the light of day and will be available for purchase on Steam on Jan. 25.

Aside from the announcement, nine minutes of gameplay for "Celeste" was also released during the Jan. 11 Nintendo Direct Mini. The footage was uploaded on the same day to IGN's YouTube channel. The video covered the game's first chapter and allows curious gamers everywhere to catch a glimpse of Celeste's gameplay in case they are on the fence about buying it.

The first nine minutes of "Celeste" features the game's soothing sound track and pleasing pixel art, alongside character portraits and quick look at how climbing and other controls such as wall jumps work within the game. The video starts out with Celeste making her way to the mountain trail, unable to find it, she stops at old woman's house for a brief chat about the mountain and how far it is.

After the old woman gives Celeste some directions, the real game begins. The video features several traps and obstacles and the different ways Celeste can navigate and overcome them.

Despite being a few weeks away, Steam already has a page dedicated to the game.

The game's synopsis reads: "Help Madeline survive her inner demons on her journey to the top of Celeste Mountain, in this super-tight platformer from the creators of TowerFall. Brave hundreds of hand-crafted challenges, uncover devious secrets, and piece together the mystery of the mountain."

According to Steam, the game aims to feature a single-player narrative driven game, a charming cast of characters to help make the adventure more memorable, and a very tall mountain to climb. The Steam page also mentions that there will be unlockable side chapters and at least two hours' worth of original soundtrack.

Aside from releasing on Steam, "Celeste" will also be coming to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.
