April (Italia Ricci) will finally put her energy in something that she loves doing — writing — in the upcoming episode of ABC Family's drama series "Chasing Life."

In "First Person," Cartermatt reports that the young widow will try to move on from her personal tragedy and focus on her writing career. April has always wanted to publish a book, and it looks like she can finally follow her dream. Eager to start the process, she will be setting up a meeting with a literary agent.

After hearing what the rep has to say, however, April is reluctant to accept the advice. Publishing is one big step for her career, and she is naturally leery of what to do. What helps her put things in perspective is when she encounters an old friend at Camp Hendrie. Will April finally make up her mind on the best recourse to take for her career as a writer?

Last episode, April's determination to unveil a family secret led to a shocking discovery about Thomas Carver (Tom Irwin). While the winter storm forced them to stay indoors, she made George (Steven Weber) reveal what her dad hid from them all those years. At first, her uncle was reluctant to disclose the truth. But when the Carver women ganged up on him, he had no choice but to say it.

According to him, Thomas suffered from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (A.S.L.). In order to leave his family with insurance money, he wanted to take his own life. He then approached George, the only doctor in the household, to help him put the plan to reality. April's uncle admitted that he agreed with Thomas' plot and helped him fake his own death.

Out of all the Carver children, it was Natalie (Jessica Meraz) who took the revelation badly. If viewers could remember, Thomas had kept her birth a secret to his legal family, as he did not want April and Brenna (Haley Ramm) to think he had been unfaithful to their mother. At the end of the episode, Natalie could be seen walking out of the house without a backward glance. It was as if she has decided to leave the Carvers for good.
