Apple is set to unveil a new line up of faster yet cheaper iMac next week, according to French site MacGeneration.

The tech giant recently held its Worldwide Developers' Conference 2014 early this month but was void of any new hardware device. However, Apple seemed to treat its waiting fans with a refreshed iMac line soon. The Apple desktop will receive minor updates in its processor just like its brother, MacBook Air.

MacRumors reported that Apple planned to upgrade the configurations of the iMacs. The new iMacs will pack the recently launched processors, including the 3.3 GHZ i5-4690, the 3.5 GHz i5-4690, and 3.6 GHz i7-4790 for the 27-inch model as well as the 3.0 GHz i5-4590S and 3.2 GHz i5-4790S for the 21.5-inch model. There is also the possibility that the company will shave off some of the price of the iMac due to minor specs bump.

The update on the processors was predicted earlier by reliable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of KGI Securities. However, the cheaper price of the desktop will grab more attention. Kuo predicted that Apple will offer the iMacs at a lower cost to cater the growth of sales in foreign markets. He also said that iMac sales will increase by 23% this year.

Although in the recent quarter, the Mac business performed better than the overall PC market again, the segment accounts for just 12% of the company's revenue and probably an even smaller percentage of operating income. However, compared to Apple's most successful segment iPhones, Mac's growth is relatively slow. A lower-cost iMac could help Apple sustain year-over-year revenue growth a bit longer.

Meanwhile, there were rumors that Apple hired a secret-development "dream team" to ensure that the company's upcoming devices will not be leaked to the public. One of the many concerns of Apple is the leaking information of its devices.
