Steve R. McQueen is no stranger to love triangles, having seen a lot of that during his time on "The Vampire Diaries." Now that the actor will be joining the cast of "Chicago Fire" as new candidate Jimmy Borelli, he will be part of a love triangle again. Executive producer Matt Olmstead told Entertainment Weekly that both Brett (Kara Killmer) and Chili (Dora Madison) will be vying for his attention. 

Olmstead told the website that although Brett had a relationship with Cruz (Joe Minoso) last season, she's single again, as is Chili. It so happens that Borelli is also unattached so the three are the most likely characters to be in a love triangle. 

"Everybody else has dated each other or are in relationships or out of relationships — those are the three most available characters. We're playing a little bake-off in terms of who likes the McQueen character," said Olmstead. 

The showrunner added that there is a rivalry between Brett and Chili for Borelli's attention, but being best friends, one of them ultimately defers to the other, and fans will get to see who will have a romance with Borelli.

Meanwhile, the season 4 premiere is just a month away, and fans cannot wait to find out what happened to Casey (Jesse Spencer) after he was kidnapped in the season 3 finale. In the trailer for the new season, Dawson (Monica Raymund) is seen in Casey's apartment, which looks as if someone has been going through his things. Dawson finds a dead woman in the apartment and she calls for help. 

Casey is also seen being held at gunpoint, and the Chicago P.D. police force goes on a rescue mission. A shot is fired, and it remains to be seen whether Casey survives or not. 

Season 4 of "Chicago Fire" premieres on Oct. 13 at 10 p.m. on NBC.
