Chris Tomlin scoops 'Top Christian Artist' award

It was a double award night for multi-platinum selling artist Chris Tomlin at the 2011 Billboard Music Awards on Sunday.

Tomlin received the “Top Christian Artist” award, while his No 1 hit “Our God” was honoured as “Top Christian Song”.

The star-studded event was hosted by comedic actor Ken Jeong and broadcast LIVE on ABC.

“Our God”, written by label mate Matt Redman, Jonas Myrin, Chris Tomlin and Jesse Reeves, was first heard on Passion: Awakening.

It was re-recorded for Tomlin’s latest album, And If Our God Is For Us...

Earlier this year, "Our God" was nominated for a Grammy for “Best Gospel Song”.

Although he missed out on that award, he still took home the award for “Worship Song of the Year” at this year’s 42nd Annual GMA Dove Awards.

Tomlin recently partnered with iTunes for an exclusive premiere of his brand new music video “I Lift My Hands”, the latest single from his seventh record.
