Paul, Apostle of Christ (March 18)

Paul, the Apostle of Jesus, has always been a popular biblical figure in movies and here, James Faulker will play Paul while Jim Caviezel will play Luke. This movie tells the story of how Paul turned from being a prosecutor to a very influential apostle. It will also show Paul's spiritual journey through hope, forgiveness, and redemption.

Beautifully Broken (March 30)

Not necessarily based off a scripture, "Beautifully Broken" is a story about peace and forgiveness. A Rwandan man escaped his homeland due to an ethnic genocide and made a new life in America. There, he met a Tennessee family with their own struggles. Together, they learn how to find peace by forgiving those who've hurt them.

God's Not Dead: A Light in the Darkness (March 30)

Already the third installment of PureFlix's God's Not Dead, this movie is one of the anticipated ones this year. The story will revolve around the life of Pastor Dave after serving his prison sentence, which was a continuation of the previous movie. However, Dave's trials didn't end there. His home church was burned down to do social tension among its members, and this made Dave doubt his faith. "A Light in the Darkness" is his path to rediscovering and strengthening his faith.

Mary Magdalene (March 30)

Mary Magdalene is a movie not many will like or approve of, but it is worth watching nonetheless. Mary, played by Rooney Mara, is a unique character. While this movie will show Mary's interactions with the disciples and Jesus, it will also show how Mary engages in conflict with Peter, played by Chiwetel Ejiofor, and with the believers. Based on the trailer, some would describe Mary as a proto-feminist in this movie, but you'll be the judge of that once you see it.

Selfie Dad: When a Comic Gets Serious About the Bible (April 27)

Something a bit more modern and today, "Selfie Dad" is a story of a man's journey in building a personal relationship with God. Ben, a father and reality TV editor, seems like he is going through a mid-life crisis and doesn't have control over his life. When his son posts a video on YouTube showcasing his home improvement fails, he realized his dream of being a comedian. Soon after, his YouTube channel became a hit; he found fame. However, soon, he realizes that true happiness only comes from God.

Watching Christian-themed movies is a good experience for you and the family as it offers different perspectives on the world. These movies are often made to be relatable to Christians or struggling Christians, so you'll definitely pick up a lesson or two here. 2018 is a big year for Christian movies; expect more new releases in the coming months.
