Christian woman gives up tight leggings after husband admits it's hard to stop his eyes wandering
A Christian woman has decided to give up leggings in her wardrobe after her husband admitted that it's difficult to keep his eyes away from women wearing thin, form-fitting leggings.
Veronica Partridge, 25, wrote in her blog that since wearing leggings or form-fitting yoga pants could cause men to have lustful thoughts, she has decided to only wear them at home or at least make sure that her rear end is well covered in public.
"If it is difficult for my husband who loves, honours, and respects me to keep his eyes focused ahead, then how much more difficult could it be for a man that may not have the same self-control?" she wrote.
A discussion about the wardrobe staple with her friends prompted her to ask her husband Dale how he feels about women wearing leggings.
Her husband had a surprising confession to make.
"When I walk into a place and there are women wearing yoga pants everywhere, it's hard to not look. I don't, but it's not easy," he said.
After that, Partridge's conviction to give up leggings only became stronger. She said that her decision was for her husband and daughter, who she wants to set a good example to.
Partridge admitted that since she gave up leggings weeks ago, she has found it difficult sometimes to find an outfit. But ultimately, she is happy that she feels like she is honouring God and her husband in the way she dresses.
She also stressed that the decision is solely her own, and that she is in no way instructing other women to follow suit.
Her decision came with both praise and backlash. Some called her ignorant and hypocritical, and even compared her views to that of radical Islam's.
"If you really have an issue with yoga pants/leggings attracting attention because they are form fitting, then you better throw out wearing jeans too. Otherwise you are being hypocritical. Jeans show just as much 'behind' and thighs that yoga pants do," a commenter named Just me wrote in response.
Surprisingly, some of the positive comments came from her male audience. One person named Jake commented, "As a young adolescent single male, it is hard to ignore women who dress immodestly...if that's a word. However, I've found (from first impressions) that a woman is most attractive when they dress modest(ly)."
