Christians now compared to ISIS: Author Michael Brown says it's 'absolutely sick'
It seems hard to believe that Christians are now being compared to the militants of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) whenever Christians take a stand against controversial issues such as abortion, homosexuality, and same-sex marriage.
"It's scary enough when peace-loving Jesus followers are compared to ISIS. What's even scarier is that many people believe the comparison is accurate. Have they completely lost touch with reality?" radio talk show host and bestselling author Michael Brown wrote in an article for Charisma News.
Brown understands that different people have "passionate and deep differences" on such issues as abortion and same-sex marriage, but he said it's completely wrong when people hurl unjust accusations on those who have opposing views as them.
This is what happened to Brown just a few days ago when someone named Dixie posted on his Facebook page, "You are just as ugly as (ISIS)!"
Brown has had his fair share of bashers, but he decided to respond to Dixie by asking, "Because we want to protect innocent babies in the womb? Because we care about marriage and family? Because we feed the poor and needy around the world? Because we want the whole world to know how wonderful Jesus is? Please be kind enough to explain your views."
But Dixie didn't respond.
In another platform, a person named Jeromeno posted Brown's YouTube page: "Kim Davis is an ISIS infiltrator in America with a mission to spread. The most radical interpretation of Sharia Law. ISIS needed a hero, a Jeanne d'Arc, and they found one in KIM DAVIS."
Another person named Charlie further commented, "Kim Davis, by Virtue of defying the Constitution and the Supreme Court is NO BETTER than those men who conceived, executed and plotted those attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon on September 11. Granted, there haven't been any lives lost in the wake of Mrs. Davis' shenanigans, the ideology of using her religious beliefs as justification to defile the Supreme Court and the Constitution make her a religious terrorist along the order of Osama bin Laden and ISIS."
To recall, Davis is the Rowan County Clerk who was jailed after she refused to sign same-sex marriage certificates. She was released after spending six days in jail. Christians, including big names such as Franklin Graham and presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee have rallied in support of Davis. Nonetheless, he received her fair share of bashers, too.
"This is absolutely sickābut I remind you, an increasing number of people actually believe this," Brown said about the accusations made against Christians. "Talk about being deluded."
Brown would like to remind people that ISIS crucifies Christians for refusing to convert to Islam, as well as Muslims who are "not radical enough." The same group also buries little children alive, burns prisoners alive, drowns them in cages, rapes teenage girls, then sells them to slavery, and throws homosexuals off buildings.
But despite this fact, a lot of people in the world deplore Christians, just as many others hated Jesus during His time, he said. "On the one hand, we are hardly suffering at all when compared to our brothers and sisters in the Middle East. We're worried about losing our reputations and our Facebook friends; they're worried about losing their children and their very heads," added Brown. "At the same time, we need to understand the level of animosity coming our way."
He believes that the only way to overcome evil is with good, hatred with love, lies with truth, and darkness with light, regardless of the cost or the consequence.
