The much anticipated Christian epic of the year, “The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe”, will hold its world premiere at the Royal Albert Hall on December 7 in the company of TRH The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.

|PIC1|The premiere for Walt Disney/Walden Media’s latest children’s adventure-come-fairytale flick is set to encapsulate all the magic of the original novel by C.S. Lewis as the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington are transformed into Narnia’s 100 year winter.

In place of the traditional red carpet that usually adorns premieres will be a glamorous white carpet leading to a Royal Albert Hall set to be transformed for the evening in true Disney style.

The exclusive party in Kensington Garden, which follows the screening, will not miss out on any of the winter fun, with giant trees, frosted and sparkling, and adorned with ice carvings creating the perfect winter wonderland for some of the world’s most glamorous celebrities.

The centrepiece of the after-show party will be a towering iced chandelier to wow guests as they feast on Turkish delights and skate on a purpose-built ice rink.

The premiere also has been selected as the prestigious 2005 Royal Film Performance and will serve simultaneously as a fundraiser in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.

Chairman of Walt Disney Studios, Dick Cook, said: “We are proud and thrilled that ‘The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe’ has been selected as this year’s Royal Film Performance, in aid of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund.

“It is truly a great honour to be chosen for this most prestigious event on the British film calendar, and we think this event is the perfect place to introduce the film to audiences around the world.”

The chief executive of the Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund, Peter Hore, also expressed his delight at the film version of Lewis’ classic children’s novel, calling it “a unique and very special occasion for the film industry and all concerned, in front of the cameras and behind the scenes”.

The children’s classic follows the adventures of four children in wartime England who unwittingly stumble through a magical wardrobe during a game of hide-and-seek to discover a mystical world of fauns and talking beavers condemned to eternal darkness under the grip of the White Witch.

The film is directed by Andrew Adamson of “Shrek” acclaim and features the voice of Liam Neeson as the lion Aslan, the noble and mystical ruler.
