Church insurer asks people to vote for favourite teatime treat

Church insurer Congregational and General is asking people to vote for their favourite ‘Teatime Treat’ recipe from the charity church cookbook ‘Loaves, fishes and more…’.

The not-for-profit cookbook, devised by Congregational and General, features over 70 delicious recipes submitted by members of the public and church leaders across five different categories in the book.

With the season of summer fetes almost upon us, Congregational is keen to find the nation’s favourite ‘Teatime Treat’.

Visitors to www.loavesfishesandmore.com can vote for their favourite recipe from a selection of twelve ‘Teatime Treats’ that appear in the cookbook.

Everyone who votes will be automatically entered into a draw to win one of ten free copies of the book signed by celebrity chef Kevin Woodford.

Loaves, fishes and more was compiled by Congregational to inspire people from across the UK to help produce a collective cookbook.

The cookbook can help any church or charity group raise funds for their own cause it as well as support the vital work of Christian Aid, with a donation made for every book sold.

The fundraising project has bought together people from every level including Christian circles, professional cooks the business community and the general public.

Each group was inspired to contribute their expertise in support of the fundraising initiative.

Margaret Slater, Marketing Manager at Congregational and General said; “Cookery has long been associated with church fundraising activities and with the summer fete season almost upon us we thought it might be interesting to discover which of the teatime treat recipes were the most popular.

"Of course, the Archbishop’s recipe for Ginger Biscuits has attracted a lot of interest, but we’re sure that the other delicious recipes in this particular section will make voting a hard choice.”

Retailing at £11.95 per copy, ‘Loaves, fishes and more...’ is available now from high street bookshops as well as eBay and Amazon. Churches and charity groups are able to purchase the book at a discounted price and retain the profit on their sales for their own good cause.
