The Church of Scotland has appointed a new minister to take charge of the important congregations in Braemar and Crathie. Rev Kenneth MacKenzie is currently a minister at St Columbia’s Scottish Mission in Budapest, but he is expected to return in October to take up his new post.

The Church of Scotland has made the decision with much hope and has been looking for the right person to fit the important role perfectly.

Kenneth MacKenzie is native Scottish, born in Glasgow on 7th April 1959. He completed his studies at the University of Aberdeen where he studied a BD and certificate of Pastoral Studies.

In 1988 MacKenzie was licensed by Aberdeen Presbytery, and was later ordained by the same presbytery in 1990.

Prior to being sent as a missionary to Budapest in 1999, Rev Mackenzie ministered in Newhills and Dyce, as well as Burlingame, California and Perth North.

The work of the Scottish mission has been greatly expanded in the six years that Rev MacKenzie has been in Budapest. In particular, he has been testified as playing a key role in the strengthening of the local English-speaking congregation.

Currently Rev MacKenzie’s work includes a lot of work with refugee and migrant communities, and also during his time in the US he was involved in a number of local housing projects.

The Church of Scotland has expressed its warm welcome to Rev MacKenzie to his new position, that he is expected to take up in October of this year.
