Early this month, developer Supercell rolled out a major update to its strategy, towe defense-type game "Clash of Clans." The major update unlocked many features for the game such as the much-awaited Town Hall 11 and a number of new items.

Apparently, some of the new features were bugged, and some received negative feedback from the fanbase and Supercell decided to release an optional patch.

According to a post on the Supercell forums, aside from fixing known issues for the players, the optional update also rolled out the winter theme for the game. Players will now see snow covering their bases, and the snowfall itself can apparently be disabled in the settings should players prefer it. Meanwhile, the winter theme also added Christmas trees as part of the spawned obstructions in the map.

According to Design & Trend, aside from fixing game issues, the optional update was also released by Supercell as a response to the negative feedback that the TH11 update got from hardcore players. Reportedly, some features of the major update early this month, such as the required personal breaks for consecutive hours of playing, landed the developer in hot water.

In the post-maintenance notes that Supercell published after the TH11 update, it is now noted that the Personal Break feature has been increased from three to four hours per play, and the limit itself was adjusted to 15 minutes from a longer 30 minutes when the player is without shield or guard. Meanwhile, players who need to be offline for a longer period of time without fear of being attacked can now extend Personal Breaks. The limit extension was made 15 minutes longer, making the Personal Break extension now 30 minutes instead of the original 15.

Aside from the adjustments, the optional update also fixed different game issues that players discovered after the TH11 update, such as game crashes, excesses in limited item creation like spells, and other user interface improvements.
