Cleveland Browns wide receiver Andrew Hawkins was already released from the hospital after being admitted when he suffered a concussion in their 30–9 defeat to the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday. 

According to ESPN, Hawkins sustained the concussion after getting hit by Steelers linebacker Jarvis Jones. 

A pass by Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was intercepted by Steelers safety Mike Mitchell, and as Hawkins tried to go for a tackle, he was hit hard by Jones in the helmet which led to his second concussion this season. 

Before the recent injury, Hawkins already missed the previous two games ahead of their matchup with Pittsburgh because of a concussion as well. 

Before leaving in their defeat to the Steelers, the 29-year-old wide receiver had seven receptions for 69 yards. 

Hawkins is in his second season with the Browns and in eight games played this season has 27 receptions for 276 yards and zero touchdowns. 

ESPN added in the report that the National Football League (NFL) may review what happened because of the way Jones hit Hawkins. 

Browns wide receiver Travis Benjamin is protesting about the hit but said it was part of the game. 

"When he left his feet and kind of launched into Hawk, he could have easily just passed by. But it's the game of football. Those guys are looking to take our heads off and it's the same thing towards us," Benjamin stated, according to the Associated Press. 

The recent setback to the Steelers was the fifth consecutive loss for the Browns who are also facing injuries at the quarterback position. 

Cleveland now holds a 2–8 record and is last in the American Football Conference (AFC) North, above them are the division-leading Cincinnati Bengals (8–1), followed by the Pittsburgh Steelers (6–4), and the Baltimore Ravens (2-7). 

Up next for the Browns will be a bye week before returning to action against the Baltimore Ravens on Nov. 30.
