With no contract since 2013, former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson is shifting his focus from basketball to the music industry.

Gibson was the 42nd pick by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2006 NBA Draft and spent all of his seven seasons in Ohio.

He was once a promising guard for the Cavaliers, something that netted him a five-year contract worth $21 million back in 2008. Gibson proved himself, particularly in 2010–11 which was perhaps his best year in the NBA.

But after his contract expired, Gibson found it tough to hook up with any NBA club, and now, it seems that he has given up playing basketball overall. Unlike other players who would take their talent overseas, Gibson has decided to follow a different path — Rap Music.

He made the announcement last Friday morning on the radio show, "The Breakfast Club," and also revealed that he has been working on his rap project for the past three to four years (apparently, the time he failed to latch on to any other ballclub in the NBA).

Despite no news on whether or not Gibson indeed drew interest from other NBA clubs, such seems questionable given his various bouts with injuries, not to mention the large pool of younger guards that the NBA has today. Regardless, Gibson claims he opted for a music career instead.

True enough, Gibson somehow vanished from the NBA scene. Prior to his decision to follow a rapping career, Gibson was in the headlines earlier this year.

Back in March, Gibson was accused of being unfaithful by his wife and singer Keyshia Cole.

Keyshia revealed her discovery via Twitter, claiming that she caught Gibson texting another woman on his phone while she was around. The two have had a rocky relationship since.

It remains to be seen if Gibson will find success in his rap career. But seeing that his NBA career isn't gaining ground, it really wouldn't hurt to try.
