A report says the Cleveland Cavaliers is planning to let the $4.8 million trade exception for Kyle Korver expire.

When the Cavs got Korver by sending Mike Dunleavy, Mo Williams, and the Cavs' 2019 first round pick to the Atlanta Hawks, they also got a $4.8 million trade exception that is valid until today. That means they could get a player worth that amount without sending anyone of their good men out.

As for trade exception rules, Cleveland could not get a player with a bigger salary by using the $4.8 million and just simply adding another player to the trade.

It is a bit tricky business, and reports say the Cavaliers is not interested in claiming it. After all, its roster is already full with 15 players, with a payroll that's almost $30 million over the $99 million salary cap.

Despite the trade deadline on Feb. 8 only less than a month away, the Cavaliers have been relatively quiet, except for that strong rumor that the team is very interested in getting the Los Angeles Clippers' DeAndre Jordan for a trade.

The 29-year-old center, however, is a huge asset for the Clippers, and reports say the LA team is only trading him out for a huge return.

According to Cleveland.com's Terry Pluto, the Clippers will only consider a Jordan trade if the Cavs added the Brooklyn 2018 first-round draft pick that they acquired in the Kyrie Irving deal. But he also said the Cleveland team does not plan on trading that pick, which could mean they might be letting go of Jordan as well.

Pluto added that while Jordan could provide a "great interior depth" for the Cavs, he w ill not be a good enough boost to help the team get over the huge block called the Golden State Warriors, and thus he is also not worth the price of the high trade demand.
