Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors 2016: Jared Dudley a target?

The Cleveland Cavaliers hardly seem like the team that would pull the trigger on a major trade right now. But of course, if an opportunity comes why not?

One player that the Cavs have been targeting since the start of the season is reportedly Jared Dudley via Yahoo Sports.

He is currently with the Washington Wizards and has been known as a three-point shot artist. Seeing that the Cavs would love to add another wingman who can knock down the three-ball, Dudley could be a prized catch.

But the question is on whether or not the Wizards are interested in parting with Dudley and for whom.

Right now, the players whom the Cavs could offer may be some big men.

Timofey Mozgov and Anderson Varejao come into mind. Mozgov has had a struggling season and word about him being on the trade block is nothing new.

Varejao, on the other hand, is nearing the end of his contract and could be waived by the Cavs after this season. With two questionable players that may not necessarily appease the Wizards, the Cavs may need to offer something better if they are decided to snag Dudley from the Wizards.

Dudley is a key contributor to the Wizards which makes it seems near impossible to consummate a trade at this point. The Wizards are 22–27 and will need a big push to make it into the magic eight for the post season wars.

Rather than deal Dudley, the Wizards will most likely want someone to add to their campaign. Releasing him in a trade is risky if not a sign that Washington has given up for any possible playoff spot.

Right now, this could be something hard to visualize. Unless the Cavs can offer a tempting deal for the Wizards, this is one deal that doesn't seem like realistically materializing at least for this season.
