Following the controversial cut of two series regulars from "Code Black" season 2, a new character has been added to the ensemble.

This newcomer is being kept secret right now, but the clue given about her will have fans of "Harry Potter" who happen to watch the medical drama very happy.

According to a casting notice acquired by TV Line, the newest addition to "Code Black" season 2 is named Charlotte Piel, a former child star who starred in a beloved movie franchise.

The description for the character, who will be a recurring role but with option to go regular, says "think Hermione Granger in Harry Potter" when envisioning this new "Code Black" season 2 character.

Charlotte gave up her superstar status to go to medical school. This drastic change brings her to Angels Memorial where she isn't taken seriously because of what she did prior to being a doctor.

Apart from Charlotte, "Code Black" season 2 will also welcome a new character by the name Colonel David Willis, a blunt and a rule-breaker of an ex-combat doctor that will be co-lead to Leanne (Marcia Gay Harden).

When "Code Black" was renewed for season 2, the show chose to axe Bonnie Somerville and Raza Jaffrey, who played the roles of Christa and Neal, respectively.

There is no clear explanation as to why they were cut from the show, but series creator Michael Seitzman said that no one wanted this to happen.

"No answer I give will be satisfying... It sucks. Nobody — nobody — enjoyed this. Decisions like this aren't easy and are very complex," Seitzman told TV Line.

While Somerville and Jaffrey had to say goodbye in "Code Black" season 2, Boris Kodjoe and Jillian Murray's recurring characters Will and Heather were promoted to series regulars in the new season.

"Code Black" season 2 is slated to premiere on Sept. 21.There will be 22 episodes this season instead of 18.
