Kevin Feige has explained why Marvel has chosen not to attend this year's Comic-Con event in San Diego.

Marvel has been a frequent guest at the event, and can often be seen occuppying Hall H, but this year will be different.

News that Marvel was skipping Comic-Con was revealed earlier in June, according to Comicbook. The news led fans to assume that Marvel was bowing out of the event because they intended to be part of Disney's D23 Expo, but there appears to be a different reason.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Feige, who also works as the president of Marvel Studios said that the main reason behind the Comic-Con favorite skipping this year's festivities is merely because they had nothing new to say.

Feige said the studio had already finished its own media event back in October 2014 detailing a lot of what it had planned over the next few years. Feige indicated that with all that information already known to the public, heading to Comic-Con without anything new to reveal would not be a good use of the platform.

The event Feige referred to took place on October 28, where Marvel revealed its upcoming movie projects which were set to be released some time between 2016 and 2019. Marvel announced nine films at the event, including two films from the "Avengers" franchise, "Captain America: Civil War" and "The Inhumans."

However, Marvel has since added to their slate of upcoming films with the Sony Pictures-backed "Spider-Man" film set to star Tom Holland.

Meanwhile, Marvel's main competitor, DC Comics, is expected to make headlines at Comic-Con with more news concerning its upcoming films, "Batman vs. Superman" and "Suicide Squad."

Marvel fans can still expect something new from the studio very soon as "Ant-Man" is set to hit theaters the week after Comic-Con.
