Compassion UK Saves a Child in Poverty Every Hour

|PIC1|Compassion UK is saving the life of a child every hour, every day of the year, according to its latest statistics.

In the last 12 months, another 10,000 children living in chronic poverty in the developing world have been given the opportunity to hear the gospel, reports Compassion. They have received education, nutrition, health care and other necessary provisions for their development through Compassion sponsorship.

According to latest figures there are now over 36,000 people in the UK and Ireland who sponsor a child through Compassion.

Formerly sponsored child Jackie Nakabugo, from Uganda, said, "Compassion has helped me unwrap the treasures inside of me. If God raises up a generation like us, I believe nations are going to change".

Compassion facilitates people in sponsoring a specific child with whom they can correspond and build a meaningful friendship.

Ian Hamilton, CEO of Compassion UK, said: "Compassion is thrilled at the way the UK Church is responding to the needs of children in poverty through sponsorship.

"Children who would simply not survive are getting the opportunities to live life to the full and pursue their dreams."

For just £18 a month, which is less than 60p a day, a child in the developing world can attend a church-based project, where they are loved, cared for and have the opportunity to fulfil their potential.
