"Concussion" has debuted in theatres, and it is being considered a potential Oscars participant as early as now. Dr. Bennet Omalu, whom the film is based on, says that a big factor to the film's success is Will Smith's Spirit-lead performance.

When interviewed about how Smith did in telling Omalu's story, the scientist whom the fim is based on commented that the actor's role was touched by the Spirit of God.

"The spiritual stuff is deep." Omalu said in an interview with The Christian Post. "We met, we shared and we communed the love of God, and he also saw the light. The spirit of God also touched him." According to Smith, his faith in God played a big role in portraying Omalu in "Concussion," and adds that it was his grandmother that strengthened his relationship with God.

"Concussion" tells the story of Nigerian forensic pathologist whose breakthrough was discovering the effect of concussions to the brain, after he performs an autopsy on a former N.F.L. player. Throughout the film, Dr. Omalu's Christian faith is a strong theme, and the scientist was very much involved throughout the film to make sure that that theme and other plot points were portrayed right.

The results were spot on for Omalu who claims that he wept during the movie, and praised Smith for his performance in portraying the character and telling the story of the revelation of the truth behind the dangers of concussions.

Omalu continues to explain to The Christian Post that he does not want the fame, but that this was a way to tell people the truth about God. Omalu adds, "God is truth. He is the truth. He is the life, He is the way, and the currency of God with us is our faith."

The film premiered on Christmas Day, making $10.5 million on opening day as reported by Box Office Mojo.
