UFC 200 rumors: Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz fight may be off, Mayweather fight to push through?

Conor McGregor's rematch with Nate Diaz is getting more and more unlikely by the minute. UFC president Dana White admitted that while the Irish fighter is "obsessed" with the fight, Diaz isn't up for it, which practically ruins the contract he signed for.

"Nate, we signed a new deal going into that fight, then he signed the contract for UFC 200 and then Conor doesn't show up for 200 so now Nate's trying to blow up the deal," White told Fox Sports.

"We've been going back and forth trying to make this fight happen but the problem is timing. Now we're running out of time," the UFC president continued.

McGregor is supposed to fight Diaz in a rematch at the UFC 202 this August. However, a couple of months before the event, the battle is still up in the air. In fact, looking at how things have become, it might not happen at all.

Diaz defeated McGregor during the UFC 196. McGregor has admitted that he made the mistake of not preparing enough for the fight as he should have. Diaz, on the other hand, has been enjoying the fruits of his victory and plans to go bigger.

"For that last Conor-Nate fight, Nate Diaz made millions and millions of dollars and he stands to make even bigger money," White said as he talked about failing to have him on board a fight against McGregor.

Now, White said that they are looking for another opponent for McGregor to fight at the UFC 202. However, making this challenging is the fact that McGregor really wants to make this match against Diaz happen.

Meanwhile, White also spoke about the potential clash of McGregor and undisputed boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. The UFC head said that if the boxer really wants a fight to happen, he won't just make taunts and call him up—something Mayweather is yet to do.

White believes that a potential fight between the two will definitely enjoy massive appeal and add to that Mayweather's ability to effectively promote himself. But unless the boxing superstar makes it official, no McGregor-Mayweather battle will take place.

"I don't know what his angle is on this thing with Conor McGregor, but he's not fighting Conor McGregor without calling me. It's not going to happen," he told Fox Sports.
