UFC lightweight champion Conor Mcgregor recently posted an image on Instagram with a profane one-word caption that is speculated to taunt his previous opponent in his first professional boxing match, Floyd Mayweather. This comes after Mayweather clarified that he will not be fighting in the UFC.

After reports of talks between Mayweather and UFC President Dana White on the possibility of fighting in the octagon, the 40-year-old retired boxer explained in an interview posted by Fight Hype that he only said he could fight in the UFC if he wanted to, but cleared up that he would not do it. 

"I never said I was going to fight in the UFC, I was just saying if I wanted to, what I could do," Mayweather stated. "Would and could do is different things. I'm not going to do it, though."

Shortly after Mayweather's statement, McGregor posted an image of himself with his two UFC title belts with a crude caption that is said to be a swipe at Mayweather. 

The Washington Post reports that the 29-year-old professional mixed martial artist may have taken advantage of another opportunity to insult Mayweather, something he frequently did on the lead-up to their boxing match earlier this year in which McGregor lost via technical knockout in the 10th round.

According to ESPN, even if Mayweather was serious about fighting in the UFC, it is highly unlikely he would face McGregor (21-3), the brand's lightweight champion. The Nevada State Athletic Commission sanctioned a boxing match between the two athletes, but it would be much more difficult to justify sanctioning a mixed martial arts fight, where Mayweather would face an even greater disadvantage than McGregor did in the boxing ring.
