The popularity of virtual reality games (VR) is spreading in a viral manner, which is why "Contagion VR: Outbreak" the VR sequel to the "Contagion" game, has just had its demo released.

Developer and publisher Monochrome, Inc. has released the demo version for "Contagion VR: Outbreak," which they have claimed was built exclusively for VR headsets. As such, the game will be compatible with the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive headsets, where gamers will be able to the play in single-player or multiplayer modes with their friends of strangers.

The VR game will also let players experience the origin stories of the original characters from the first game, and through their perspective nonetheless. There will also be a player versus player mode (PvP) where players can expect to hunt down one another in a particular multiplayer scenario, though no other details have been released about this mode, so players will have to wait for further details from the developers.

The demo is now available only on the PC and can be downloaded through Steam. The game is currently still in its Early Access phase, though the release of the demo could be an indication that the game will soon be getting its full version.

For those unfamiliar with the series, "Contagion" is primarily a multiplayer-focused first-person shooter (FPS) which was first released back in 2013. The game was quite popular back then and was even hailed as a game which redeems the zombie franchise, with multiple accolades from several video game journalist websites. Right now, its recent reception has not been as lukewarm as its release, with the most recent review rating only clocking in at 60 percent positive out of 107, making the overall rating 75 percent positive out of 7,613 reviews.

Luckily, the developers are open to criticisms and suggestions from players, where they have even set up a discord chat group for the VR sequel so that the community can voice out its concerns for the game.
