Kevin Rojas, who is the assailant responsible for the shooting in Jacksonville, Florida, back in 2016, was reportedly taunted by a police officer during a hearing in which he was eventually convicted with attempted first-degree murder charges by the jury. The police officer pulled out a tube of K-Y Jelly, which is a commercial lubricant used mainly for sexual purposes, telling Rojas that he is going to need it in prison.

In a report by the Daily Mail, Rojas apparently "looked smug," as he was being convicted for the crimes he committed last year, wherein he was stopped by the same officer who handed him the personal lubricant for driving recklessly. At that time, the officer was dropping off his son to school, and then immediately attempted to stop Rojas due to his driving. What happened next was Rojas got out of his car and fired at the officer.

During the gun fight, the officer was shot multiple times, but was fortunate enough to survive the encounter. According to News 4 Jax, the officer has decided to keep his identity a secret, and has not showed his face or revealed his name to the public or on camera. At the time of the altercation, Rojas was only 19 years old and was in the middle of a car hijack, which was why he was driving recklessly.

The Sun has reported that after the shooting, Rojas took the stolen vehicle back to his home and "barricaded" himself shut. As of Wednesday, Nov. 29, Rojas was found guilty of attempted first-degree murder, attempted manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, grand theft auto and fleeing. Rojas is ineligible for parole until he has served at least 25 years in prison. While the sentence was being handed out, Rojas was smirking.
