Costa Rica will play Jamaica on Wednesday as both teams get their Gold Cup 2015 campaigns underway. Costa Rica will be favorites to win this one, but Jamaica are an improving team and will be hoping to cause a shock tonight. Costa Rica managed to go all the way to the quarter finals of the World Cup last summer in Brazil, and they will have high expectations that they can be competing for the title of this year's Gold Cup.

Costa Rica are the highest ranked team in CONCACAF at 14th in the world following some excellent results over the past few years, but they are coming into the tournament on the back of some fairly poor form.

Over their past five games they have only managed to draw two, losing the other three. The one consolation will be that they did play some very strong teams over that period, including Spain, Mexico and Colombia.

Manager Paulo Wanchope is not worried though, and has said that the experience of playing some very strong teams has actually given his team more confidence that they can compete with the best.

He said, "Each match, we see improvement in ourselves. Against Colombia, it is true that it was neither a good or bad match. Against Spain, we also had Spain in their half, which is not at all easy. Mexico has always been a tough opponent for us, and nevertheless we were able to dominate them for at least a half, and that gives us a glimpse into what we can do at the Gold Cup."

Jamaica meanwhile recently competed in the Copa America last month, and although they will be disappointed having lost all three of their games - being knocked out in the group stages - they showed fight and did not fall apart against any team they played.

However, they are in turmoil coming into this game, with players boycotting their training session on Monday after a pay dispute spilled over and remained unresolved just days ahead of the Gold Cup starting for them.

That is hardly perfect preparation for their players ahead of the tournament, but at least the boycott resulted in the pay dispute being resolved, and that means the players can now focus 100 percent on the job at hand.

Jamaica Football Federation president Horace Burrell told the Gleaner, "All is well that ends well. It took a longer time than we first anticipated, but in the end I'm very happy to report now that all has been settled, and so all players will make themselves available for the start of the Gold Cup tomorrow."
