Council for World Mission Partners to Launch Multicultural Training Module

|TOP|Partners of the Council for World Mission have joined together to create a taskforce that will develop a unique new multicultural ministry training module.

The new project will be developed over 2006 by the taskforce before it is piloted in the Netherlands in January 2007.

The project brings together Gert Noort of the Hendrik Kraemer Institute, Katalina Tahaafe-Williams of the United Reformed Church and Congregational Federation director of studies Janet Wootton.

According the CWM, the three heads of the project will process the results of a previous CWM and CWM Europe Region consultation on multicultural ministry into a format that can then be used by academic and theological institutions.|AD|

The launch is the culmination of a process that began when experts met in the Netherlands in October 2005 and then again in the UK in May this year.

The experts in multicultural ministry gathered to share their knowledge and expertise, and work out a plan on how best to prepare people for ministry among culturally diverse communities.

Organiser of the training programme, Francis Brienen, said, “It's such a strong reality in the UK and the Netherlands – the fact that society is multicultural and multifaith, and our church is increasingly multicultural."

The multicultural ministry training module, which has attracted interest from higher education institutions and churches, will be launched officially in the Netherlands in September 2007.
