Rumors are swirling that the TLC reality show "Counting On" may not be returning for its seventh season because of past controversies.

The finale of season 6 recently aired in October but there has not been any official update regarding the show's renewal for a new installment. Entertainment insiders speculate that it was because of Jill Duggar-Dillard's husband Derick's recent controversies that prompted the show's executives not to reveal any announcements to the public for the meantime.

Derick received a ton of backlash when he went after fellow TLC star Jazz Jennings and called her "I Am Jazz" show an "oxymoron." He figured that the reality show was showcasing the non-reality subject of transgenderism. He believed that "transgender" was a myth and that gender was not fluid. According to him, it was "ordained by God." This comment got Derick in hot water and received the ire of many "Counting On" fans who did not appreciate it.

Derick also posted a video of a group of people dancing which went against the Duggar family rules. This irked a lot of the family's friends and followers. With these controversies, it is apparent that TLC executives are hard-pressed to make a decision regarding the show's future. This scenario has happened once before when executives had to decide on whether they should renew or cancel the original Duggar reality show "19 Kids and Counting" on account of eldest child Josh's child molestation scandals. The show ended up getting cancelled.

It seems that the spinoff "Counting On" may be in the same boat as its predecessor and may likely meet the same fate. The show centered on the older Duggar children Jill and Jessa, and their own families.

There is no official word yet for a "Counting On" season 7. Stay tuned for more reports as the situation unfolds.
