Avid fans of the Crackdown series are getting worried that plans for "Crackdown 3" may have already been scrapped. The last update was two months ago, but it was about a themed controller and nothing about the game itself. This has caused anxiety in the community, but a single tweet was able to pacify everyone.

Microsoft Xbox head Phil Spencer took some time to answer some questions directed at him. Just recently, he responded to a fan's tweet, saying there is nothing to worry about and that the team is painstakingly perfecting the game to be ready by next year. He also teased everyone, saying that the "look is iconic."

It appears that the developers of "Crackdown 3" are taking things in stride and are not, at any rate, rushing to finish the game. As per WCCFTech, creative director Dave Jones explained that they do not want to produce a half-baked game, thus releasing it this year would greatly impact the quality of the upcoming sequel. Moreover, he emphasized that, as previously announced, the game is slated for launch in 2017, and all for good reason.

"'Crackdown 3' is a game built for the future with a multiplayer experience that will redefine what it feels like to play games, and as we continue to work on this, it has become clear that our original timeline of delivering multiplayer to fans this summer, while maintaining the size, scope and quality of the game, would be challenging. Our top priority is to give gamers an experience they have never seen before at a scale never thought possible, and sticking to our original timeline would have compromised that goal." Jones said.

Working on the project slowly but surely may just be the right move for the developers. In a community forum on the game's official website, players of the game share their thoughts about the first two titles. Almost everyone agrees that "Crackdown 2" is better in terms of game mechanics but had a noticeable decline in terms of the storyline. If the creators are listening to the fan base, they might just make "Crackdown 3" an improvement that would boast superior gameplay and an interesting plot to boot.

"Crackdown 3" will be released in 2017.
