'Crash Bandicoot' PS4 release date: Game remaster to be released in 2017; Iconic character to appear first in 'Skylanders Imaginators'

Sony, Activision

Activision, in partnership with Sony Interactive Entertainment America, will be releasing the remastered version of the highly acclaimed "Crash Bandicoot" game. Three remastered games will be released next year exclusively for the PlayStation 4, much to the fans' excitement and joy.

In a press release, Sony announced that the three most popular "Crash Bandicoot" games, namely "Crash Bandicoot," "Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back," and "Crash Bandicoot Warped," are the games to be released, but the specific window for these games' launch are yet to be revealed. Also, it's also not clear whether or not these games will be released all at once or at various times next year in celebration of the character's 20th year anniversary.

The development of the remastered collection for this game, however, will be handled by Activision as well as the team that made "Skylanders," according to Express UK. This company, Vicarious Visions, will be able to get more information about Crash Bandicoot once he's added to the "Skylanders Imaginators" game.

This "Skylanders" game, appropriately titled "Crash Edition," will be released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 around October this year. With this, fans are able to get a brand-new Crash Bandicoot figure complete with his signature abilities. This iconic game character can use his spin attack to decimate both crates and enemies, and he can even be equipped with a rocket launcher as well as a jetpack.

Also, the original voice actor of Crash Bandicoot, Jess Harnell, will do the voices for this character in "Skylanders Imaginators," much to the fans' excitement. However, it's not yet clear whether or not he'll be voicing the character in the PS4 remaster of the "Crash Bandicoot" game.

"Crash Bandicoot" was originally developed by Naughty Dog and has only been released for the PlayStation console ever since. Originally, it was released way back in 1996 but was re-released in 2007 for the PSN.
